Due to the effects of Hurricane Kay, face-to-face classes continue to be suspended in Sinaloa

For the second consecutive day, classes at all educational levels, both public and private in Sinaloa, will remain suspended in the eighteen municipalities of the state, due to the continuous rains generated by hurricane "Kay", category one, which is strengthening and advancing across the pacific

The Secretary of Public Education and Culture of the State issued a new notice of suspension of face-to-face classes on the recommendation of the State Institute of Civil Protection of the state that follows up on the evolution of the natural phenomenon.

Early this Tuesday, the rains intensified in the south of the state due to the natural phenomenon, which is why it is reported that the Jabalíes stream, which crosses a large urban sector, threatens to overflow, for which city hall staff, maintains constant vigilance.

In the state capital, since the night before, there have been isolated rains, without major consequences, but it is expected that they will intensify during the morning.

PERSONAL OPINION

As much as human beings have taken advantage of natural resources and have been self-sufficient, this type of news makes it clear that nature can cause situations that get out of hand. A hurricane, an earthquake or any other type of natural disaster can have very serious consequences for an entire region, can modify its conditions and even endanger the lives of the inhabitants.

In this way, we have learned that it is always necessary to take precautions like these, which reduce the risk to a minimum in the face of this type of threat. The note indicates that the suspension of classes is in its face-to-face format, in such a way that students will still be able to continue with their school activities through electronic means. I think that this is precisely a good example of how we can now take advantage of things that we couldn't before.

Finally, I consider that this type of events also affects in an economic way, since everything is connected. The fact that parents and students leave home for school every day represents a way to move the economy, from what they pay for public transportation and gasoline to more specific things like a lunch, for example.
