Health alert issued in Nayarit for 20 cases of monkeypox
The Secretary of Health of Nayarit, Francisco Munguía Perez, shared with the media that the cases of monkeypox in the entity are rising substantially" which is why the state already occupies the ninth place nationwide with 20 positive cases, in proportion to its total population.
He indicated that Bahía de Banderas is the most affected municipality, due to its proximity to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, since in the neighboring town the number of cases is considerable and the labor flow facilitates the transmission of the disease.
He explained that to date 10 positive cases are registered and active, patients who comply with the protocol and isolation health regulations, as well as with clinical follow-up for a period of three weeks.
He also reported that they are still awaiting the results of a pending case to be confirmed or ruled out by the Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (InDRE). He commented that at the moment there are no deaths in Nayarit due to monkeypox, but he was very insistent that the public go to the Health sector at the first symptoms.

PERSONAL OPINION
Despite the fact that up to now monkeypox has not caused worrying damage in our country, it seems to me that all of us as a society have learned the lesson that the COVID-19 pandemic left us. A virus, a bacterium or a disease can get out of control in seconds, especially in the current world in which we live. We are extremely social people and we are increasingly connected. Nayarit today is one of the states with the highest number of reported infections due to its proximity to Jalisco, which is precisely one of the most alarming states, and that is that the flows of people between one territory and another are very large and the carrying of these and other diseases is inevitable.
Since what happened in 2020, I think it is more than clear that a disease can have very strong social and economic implications, which is why I consider that this type of health alert does not have to generate panic among the population, at least not for now. but it does need to remind us that we must be conscientious citizens, attend to any symptoms that we present immediately and that we also have to demand quality and efficient public health services to avoid serious consequences.
